After triumph reigned earlier this season for the BYU women's track and cross country teams, winning the NCAA national championship in women's cross country, coach Diljeet Taylor continues to blaze trails.
Taylor began coaching at BYU in 2016 and was named head coach in 2021 and has led the team to two national championships, most recently in 2024, in addition to two runner-up finishes.
She has coached both pros and college athletes for three years, coaching former BYU runners Whittni Morgan, Courtney Wayment and Anna Camp-Bennett under the team name TaylorMade Elite.
“Up to that point I had never envisioned being on the pro scene as a coach, the opportunity just came up with those three women and as I did it, I really just fell in love with that aspect of it, kind of a different domain," Taylor said.
She is one of the three head coaches of Nike’s new Swoosh TC program, remaining one of the only women ranked as top pro and college coach.
Her counterparts will be Mike Smith, soon-to-be former head coach of Northern Arizona University and Jerry Schumacher of the University of Oregon.
Swoosh TC is a network of both athletes and coaches that is creating a top professional running community and team for athletes.
The network will allow all Nike distance runners to access the coaches and facilities of Swoosh TC regardless of where they are currently located or coached by. They encourage athletes to meet all three coaches and decide where and who would be the best fit for them to train with.
The facility will be located in Provo, allowing Taylor to remain as head coach at BYU for the foreseeable future.
