BYU's AJ Dybantsa named MVP of the FIBA U19 World Cup

AJ Dybantsa has added another honor to his long list of accolades.

On Sunday afternoon, after Team USA beat Germany in the gold medal game of the FIBA U19 World Cup, Dybantsa was named the MVP of the whole tournament. He will be taking some extra hardware back to Provo.

Dybantsa averaged 14.3 points, 4.1 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.1 steals in 20.0 minutes per game during the tournament, as Team USA won its ninth gold of the competition's history.

The highlight of Dybantsa's tournament came when USA played Canada in the quarterfinals. Against the hardest competition in the tournament, Dybantsa put up a stat line of 20 points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals. USA escaped with an 108-102 victory to advance to the semifinals.

In the gold medal game against Germany, Dybantsa scored 11 points.

This is Dybantsa's third gold medal in his career, also winning the U18 Americup and U17 World Cup.
