BYU women's soccer to play Arizona in first Big 12 matchup between programs

BYU's women's soccer team travels to Tucson, Arizona, to face the Arizona Wildcats Friday at 8 p.m.

Over the years, the two teams have played many times against each other but Friday marks their first meeting as Big 12 foes.

The Cougars and Wildcats have played one another 13 times, with BYU leading the series 11-2.

The last time the two teams met up on the field was in 2017 in Arizona. It was a heated overtime battle, with the Wildcat earning a 2-1 victory.

The Cougars (5-4-3, 3-1-1 Big 12) is coming off an extremely physical 3-1 win over Iowa State Monday at South Field.

In its last game on Sept. 29, Arizona (7-3-2, 2-2-1 Big 12) battled the West Virginia Mountaineers. The match ended in a 1-1 draw.

Friday's matchup will showcase a variety of talented players.

Arizona's Nicole Dallin and Gianna Christiansen have had a strong influence on Arizona's goal count this season.

BYU's Allie Fryer and Avery Frischknecht lead the way for the Cougars.
