The BYU women's soccer team will welcome longtime West Coast Conference rival Santa Clara to South Field for a first-round NCAA tournament game.
The Cougars, now in their second season in the Big 12, and Broncos, of the WCC, meet at 6 p.m. Friday.
The last time these two teams played against one another was in 2022, on South Field, where they tied 0-0 in a regular-season WCC matchup.
BYU has had a successful season so far, posting a 9-6-5 record overall and 6-2-3 in the Big 12 Conference. The Cougars finished No. 4 in conference, No. 19 (Top Drawer Soccer) in the nation, with an RPI ranking of No. 26.
Under the direction of coach Jennifer Rockwood, and for the seventh year in a row, BYU has been invited to participate in this NCAA tournament. Rockwood has guided her team to the tournament 25 times.
Rockwood's team has had some star players this season. Juniors Allie Fryer and Mackenzee Vance were named to the Sprouts Farmers Market Big 12 Soccer Championship All-Tournament Team Monday afternoon.
