BYU swimmer Mackenzie Miller Lung earns two All-American honors during NCAA championships

During the swimming NCAA championships on Friday, Mackenzie Miller Lung stood high on the podium after getting second in the 200 breaststroke.

Miller Lung swam a 2:05.35 to get her runner-up spot. This performance allotted her one of her All-American honors during the national meet. Miller Lung is rewriting BYU women’s swimming history.

She stood second on the podium after being invited to compete in the NCAA championships after her stellar performance at the Big 12 finals, where Miller Lung broke multiple school records and was selected for the All-Big 12 team.

Miller Lung showed up during the NCAA championships. She got seventh in the 100 breaststroke and was also honored with an All-American title, which is the first All-American title given to BYU women’s swimming in 34 years. This was Miiller Lung’s personal best with a 58.14 sub minute breaststroke, which placed her fifth in the finals. This was Miller Lung’s second All-American honors during the championship meet.

To finish off her junior season, Miller Lung now holds nine records for the Cougars. Miller Lung is the second BYU women’s swimmer to be awarded with two All-American honors, only behind K.C. Cline Lemon back in 1990.

Miller Lung was one of two BYU simmers that were invited to compete in the National championships. Diver Alexia Jackson Hansen competed on the 3-meter. Jackson Hansen overall took 33rd place with 270.65 points. During her time on platform, Jackson Hansen scored 210.35 points to finish 43rd during the national platform trials.
