Behind four home runs and a resilient pitching effort, BYU softball defeated Fresno State 7–4 on Monday afternoon at Gail Miller Field.
The Cougars improved to 26–12 overall with the non-conference win, which was played early in the day as part of the program’s first-ever "Kids Game."

BYU opened the scoring in the bottom of the first with a solo home run by freshman Hailey Morrow.
In the third inning, Ilove’a Brittingham extended the lead to 4–1 with a two-run shot to left center. Fresno State (19–22) responded in the top of the fourth, taking advantage of a two-out error to score three unearned runs and tie the game.

The Cougars regained control in the sixth. Senior catcher Lindy Milkowski led off the inning with a solo home run to right, putting BYU ahead 5–4. After a two-out walk to Bre Townsend, Maddie Udall-Woolley followed with a two-run home run to center, accounting for the final margin.
Starting pitcher Kate Dahle threw 5.2 innings, allowing no earned runs while striking out a season-high nine batters.

Kaysen Korth earned the win in relief, recording three strikeouts and retiring all four batters she faced over the final 1.1 innings.
Offensively, BYU totaled seven hits — four of which cleared the fence — and committed one error. Fresno State matched BYU in hits but left six runners on base and was held scoreless over the final three innings.
With the win, BYU moved to 8–7 in Big 12 Conference play. The Cougars now prepare for a key three-game series against in-state rival Utah, beginning Thursday in Provo.
