Police Beat: Oct. 30-Nov. 5

Welfare check
Officers searched the Y Trail after a note was left behind that read, “I can’t go on, I am going on a hike.” Officers were able to find the individual and transported them to University Counseling and Psychological Services, which provided the necessary resources and support.

A Missionary Training Center employee never marked their SafeWalk as completed. MTC security agreed to check on the employee’s safety.

A university student employee reported receiving distraught texts from another student employee. When asked about it by an officer, she explained that she had been suffering from an intense migraine and had texted a friend expressing her wish to escape the pain, but had no intentions of actually harming herself.

A female student did not complete her SafeWalk and could not be found at her place of residence. She later called dispatch and ended her SafeWalk after returning home.

Property damage
A vehicle, parked in Lot 1, had its windshield damaged while it was unoccupied.

A lock to a complainant’s trailer had been cut off at the Ellsworth Building, but nothing had been stolen.

Accident
A Chevrolet Silverado struck the front bumper of a Tesla in Lot 40. Information was exchanged and a report was filed.

A driver struck a yellow pole in Lot 45, causing it to fall down. An officer was able to straighten up the pole, and the driver arranged for a tow truck.

Suspicious
A suspicious vehicle that had no driver’s side window was reported at Helaman Halls. There are no concerns regarding the vehicle.

Individuals were reported to be climbing around the dock area of the Eyring Science Center, but could not be found when officers arrived. They were later located in another area of campus and were advised about risk management concerns and overall safety issues.

Students were reported to be free climbing on a wall near the southwest side of the Harman Conference Center. An officer requested that they stopped.

A woman reported a suspicious male at the Richards Building. He could not be located upon arrival.

Medical
A female reported feeling like she was going to pass out at the Tanner Building. She was examined and released to be given a ride home from her manager.

A patient at May Hall was having difficulty speaking and appeared to be having a medical issue. Provo Fire transported them to Utah Valley Hospital for further evaluation.

A male student lost control of his bike riding downhill, outside of the Wilkinson Student Center. He sustained facial injuries and a shoulder injury, and was transported to the hospital.

A female twisted her ankle while dancing at the WSC. She was evaluated, provided treatment, and then escorted to her personal vehicle.

Two individuals collided while playing intramural flag football at the North University Field. Both sustained injuries to their head and eye areas and were transported to a nearby medical facility.

A basketball player had fallen and injured his hand at the Richards Building. He was treated and advised to follow up with medical care.

An adult female was experiencing abdominal pain at the Wymount Terrace. She was transported to the hospital.

Found property
An officer located the owner of a set of keys found in the Smith Fieldhouse.

Information 
A report was made about an X post saying that someone had, "heard there's a bomb planted at the Marriott School of Business, and everyone should leave ASAP." Police contacted the person who made the post and they clarified that it was misunderstood and not intended to be a threat.

Unsecure premises
A gate was left unsecured at the LaVell Edwards Stadium. An officer secured the gate.

Stalking
A male student has continued to contact a female student, after repeated requests to stop. This was initially reported on January 9, 2024, and the Title IX office will be notified again.
