
Suspicious
A report was made that two males were possibly spray-painting the bridge over North Campus Drive. It was later discovered that they had been spraying silly string onto vehicles from the bridge.
A report was made of two males throwing objects off the roof of the Smith Fieldhouse. They admitted to throwing popcorn kernels off the roof at cars and pedestrians, as well as spraying silly string from the pedestrian bridge. They were detained and issued citations.
A report was made of a possibly intoxicated male urinating on a vehicle. Officers were unable to locate him.
A report was made of a male who was harassing students and was possibly under the influence of drugs. He was described as a male in his 40s with gray hair and a scary expression on his face, holding a cigarette. Officers were unable to locate him.
Three reports were made about a suspicious male who was making students uneasy, going through a student’s backpack, tapping a window and smoking. The man was instructed to leave campus and to return only if he had legitimate business at the college.
Accident
Two cars collided in Lot 16. No injuries were reported.
A student on an e-bike collided with the forks of a BYU forklift that was protruding into the bike lane. He sustained injuries to his face, arms and leg and was transported to Utah Valley Hospital.
A BYU vehicle backed into a parked car. Both vehicle owners were present at the scene and the officer obtained written statements from both drivers.
Medical
An individual was injured while playing soccer at the Indoor Practice Field. They were treated by BYU EMS.
A student reported that her blood pressure felt high. She was treated and released.
An adult male injured his leg while walking near the bleachers in the Richards Building. He was helped to his vehicle.
Animal problem
A report was made of a bat in the Bean Museum. An officer was able to catch and remove it from the building.
Welfare check
An officer responded to a welfare check on Safe Walk. Dispatch was able to contact the individual by telephone and it was confirmed that they had arrived home safely.
Carbon monoxide
A carbon-monoxide alarm was triggered in Wyview Park. It was discovered that a stovetop knob was partially turned on.
Agency assist
Detectives from a city in Idaho requested assistance in locating and facilitating an interview with a student at the BYU police station. Investigators located the student and conducted the interview. The student was released.
