
Explosive device
An officer received a delayed report of a student who allegedly made a dry ice bomb. The case is currently under investigation.
Skateboarding
A report was made of three juveniles skateboarding in the West Campus Building. They left the building when the caller photographed them.
Fire alarm
A fire alarm was triggered in Wyview Park. Tenants advised that it was because of burnt food.
A fire alarm was triggered at Heritage Halls. It was discovered that a pipe had sprung a leak, causing water to spray onto electrical wires near the pipes.
Two separate fire alarms were reported at Heritage Halls for cooking issues.
An officer was dispatched to Wymount Terrace in response to a report of a fire alarm. The resident reported that the alarm was caused by cooking smoke. It was confirmed that there were no flames and no damage. The officer silenced the alarm and notified BYU electricians.
Suspicious
A faculty member reported a suspicious individual on campus. The officer made contact with them and made a report.
A report was made of a suspicious truck driving around the Missionary Training Center. The driver explained that his girlfriend had just entered the MTC and he wanted to feel closer to her.
While opening the trailhead gate, a police officer discovered an empty cannabis product container. The officer confiscated the container to be destroyed.
Welfare check
An officer was dispatched to the Engineering Building following a report of a person who appeared homeless. The person was contacted and a report was made.
An officer went to the Culinary Support Center to check in on a student who did not complete their Safe Walk. It was a technical issue and the student was fine.
Accident
An accident occurred in the Creamery on Ninth parking lot. Information was exchanged.
An accident involving a BYU garbage truck occurred near the Eyring Science Center. The damage was minor.
An unoccupied vehicle rolled into another unoccupied vehicle in Lot 27. Information was exchanged.
Animal problem
Dispatchers received a call about a loose dog running near the Kimball Tower. Provo Animal Services was notified and responded to check the area.
A caller reported deer near the Brimhall Building. An officer drove through an area but did not see them.
Robbery alarm
A robbery alarm was triggered at the Wilkinson Student Center. The alarm was canceled before the officers arrived.
A robbery alarm was triggered at the Cannon Center by a recently updated Genetec System. There wasn’t any suspicious activity and the alarm was reset.
Theft
A report was made of a stolen yellow, pink and gray snow sled outside of Heritage Halls. Surveillance footage is being reviewed to locate the sled.
Medical
An intramural player was hit in the leg while playing soccer. He was treated and released.
Alarm – waterflow
A resident at Heritage Halls hung a small water bladder on a fire sprinkler to drain it, breaking the sprinkler and flooding his room. The incident damaged all of his belongings and affected at least six other dorm rooms.
Domestic violence
A neighbor reported loud arguing coming from an apartment in Wymount Terrace. The wife claimed her husband had pushed her out of the bathroom and she requested a victim advocate. The husband was cited for Simple Assault-Domestic Violence and chose to leave the residence for the evening.
