The Shops at Riverwoods held its second annual Pink Party in celebration of back-to-school season on Wednesday, Sept. 25.
Providing various activities for adults and children alike, the blush-blanketed event yielded a notably higher attendance than last year. Face painting, a costume contest, cornhole, photo ops and dancing dotted the area with entertainment.
Riverwoods vendors hosted booths throughout the grounds with exclusive deals and giveaways. As a grand finale, BYU’s Cosmo Cougar made an appearance, dressed in pink as he danced and took photos with attendees.
“We thought it would be fun to do a shopping event,” McKell Law, marketing director at the Shops at Riverwoods, said. “We just wanted to highlight all of our stores and restaurants.”
While celebrating the back-to-school season, the party provided an opportunity for locals to bond as a community.
“It’s so fun to come down and feel like you’re in a safe environment where you can just go and have fun,” Law said. “We wanted to create a family-friendly event where people can come shop, eat and have a good time.”
Law said most of the vendors at the Riverwoods are locally owned. Shops such as Blickenstaff’s, Beadology, 3B Yoga and many others offered discounts and perks to attendees.
Bailee Hamilton, owner of 3B Yoga, took the opportunity to advertise her studio during the event. 3B Yoga is one of the less seen tenants at the shops, so Hamilton was glad to get the word out about her business.
“It’s been so fantastic, the kids have loved it,” Hamilton said. “To be able to come out here and meet people is really fun.”
During the event, a local youth group gathered to play a hide-and-seek-style game. One of the youth leaders, Denise Brinkley, said when she heard about the event, she knew it would be the perfect place to hold the activity.
“We love that there’s a fun vibe here for them to enjoy,” Brinkley said.
The event was a win-win for both vendors and customers, providing shopping entertainment for all involved.
