Many have heard of, seen and even experienced the infamous and seemingly inevitable “freshman 15.' Describing the trend of weight gain that seems to occur in many college freshmen, this expression is widely known and accepted as inescapable.

You have heard it a million times.

The sun is shining as you walk out of your last class on a Friday. Finally, the weekend!

It was my second-to-last class of the day, and I was ready to be done with lectures, go back to my dorm, put on sweats and get going on the homework I had been putting off. The lecture ended, and as I stood up I began to panic: I was unprepared for Aunt Flo's early arrival. I put my jacket around my waist and raced to the nearest bathroom. I made it but soon realized the only feminine hygiene dispenser was located in the handicap stall, which was occupied.

When I was 14, I learned how to drive a 1998 Ford Ranger. I drove that around the farm for a year before I decided to sell it and get something else. I purchased a 1984 Ford Bronco, which I fixed up and also sold. By the time I was 16, I had already bought and sold three vehicles.

I have always had a hard time setting boundaries and telling people 'No.'
