The Shops at Riverwoods throws annual Pink Party

Provo throws annual Pink Party

The Shops at Riverwoods in Provo hosted a special ‘Pink Party’ to help locals celebrate back-to-school shopping on Wednesday, Sept. 25.

Individuals and families came out to enjoy food, games and a dance party. This year marked the second consecutive year that the shops hosted this event during the back-to-school season.

“I honestly love any chance to come and party and I think it’s so fun when you all dress up and there’s a theme, like pink is awesome,” one Pink Party attendee said.

Organizers decorated the mall with pink balloons, signs and photo booths to help visitors immerse themselves in the colorful experience.

While kids enjoyed the games and dancing, adults stuck around for the food samples and discounts offered in each store.

A mom who brought her daughters to the Pink Party expressed her excitement to dress up for the event.

“I personally am a huge Barbie fan, so you know got to do anything for pink,” she said.

Even with the many planned activities, the biggest crowds of the night centered around none other than BYU’s Cosmo the Cougar. Cosmo pulled up in the BYU van about halfway through the night and stayed to dance and take pictures with participants.

“I’ve seen him in the parade and stuff like that but in person I just had to give him that kiss on the cheek,” an excited party attendee said.

Amid the fun, the Pink Party also served as a promotional event for local businesses at the shops, with most offering one-night-only discounts to attract partygoers.

For at least one participant though, the excitement of the Pink Party went beyond just shopping.

“Never been to one before but my sister-in-law told me (I) need to get out and have some fun. My father just passed away a couple days ago, and so I just need to get out and have some fun,” she said.

Although the food and discounts only lasted for one night, event organizers look forward to another fun party next year.
