The Saturday Afternoon Session of General Conference brings peace to viewers

Just a week after the death of President Russel M. Nelson, president of the church of Jesus Christ of latter-day saints, church members gather to listen to uplifting messages from leaders.

During these troubling times, Latter-day Saints gather from around the world in the Conference Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Elder Romero, a service missionary originally from Venezuela said the conference helped his testimony to grow.

“Hearing these talks, I feel so much of the spirit. It strengthened my testimony and encouraged me to be better,” Romero said.

Elder Romero said that Elder Ronald A. Rasband’s talk about the importance of the family was a highlight for him.

“Pour out your heart to Him, trust Him and His promises. You have a family in your Savior Jesus Christ who loves you,” Elder Rasband said.

This week has been tough for Latter-day Saints as they deal with the news of the death of President Nelson and news about shooting and fire at a chapel in Michigan.

“If we can just keep our lives pointed to God and his son, no matter what happens in the world, we’re going to be ok. And that’s I think a consistent message from these prophets, seers and revelators,” Frank Rodarte, a conference attendee said.

This conference session invited Latter-day Saints to remember President Nelson’s counsel about peace making and making sure to look out for those who are lonely.

“In His restored Church, we are all better when no one sits alone. Let us not simply accommodate or tolerate. Let us genuinely welcome, acknowledge, minister to, love,” Elder Steven E. Stevenson said.

The talks will be available in the coming days at thechurchofjesuschrist.org.
