The Church of Jesus Christ invites all to celebrate President Nelson's 100th birthday

In celebration of President Russell M. Nelson's 100th birthday, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will host a 75-minute "special birthday broadcast" on Sept. 9, 2024 at 4 p.m MDT.

The broadcast will honor President Nelson's life and teachings as the 17th president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

In addition to the broadcast, President Nelson encouraged all to observe his birthday by reaching out to “the one” the way Jesus did. He extended this invitation 100 days prior to his milestone birthday and used the parable of the lost sheep to invite all to look past the crowds and care for those in need.

President Nelson encouraged people to share their experiences on social media using #99plus1.

Church leaders, such as President Dallin H. Oaks and President Henry B. Eyring, followed President Nelson's lead and shared personal stories on their social media accounts to promote participation in President Nelson's invitation. They encouraged others to do the same.

According to the Church, the broadcast will highlight some of the stories people have shared since President Nelson's invitation, as well as examples of God’s love for his lost sheep.

Additional stories of “the one” in need can be found on social media using the hashtag #99plus1.

The live stream will be available on the Church's website, the Church’s YouTube channel and the Gospel Stream app.

The broadcast will be available in 18 different languages through live interpretation, and will be available for on-demand viewing after the broadcast.
