Ticket packages and passes for the 2025 Sundance Film Festival are currently on sale with reduced prices for attendees ages 18-25.
These deals will give young adults the chance to experience high quality independent films from around the world at half, or even less than half, of the regular ticket package price.
“It allows you to sort of join in with other people that love film, that love the culture and want to talk about it,” Sundance Institute senior programmer Basil Tsiokos said.
The Ignite Package presented by Adobe includes 10 in-person screenings, five online screenings, early access to ticket selection, Q&A’s with filmmakers and more. It also offers exclusive access to Ignite events such as education on the behind-the-scenes of filmmaking. This package costs $275 — less than half the regular Utah resident package price of $675.
“It's really a program that provides mentorship, opportunities to meet with industry, and support basically for young filmmakers, emerging filmmakers to get out into the world,” Tsiokos said.
The Salt Lake City Young Adult Pass provides priority access to unlimited screenings in the Salt Lake City festival theaters. Unlike the Ignite Package, passholders do not need to make individual ticket selections.
This pass costs $300 — half of the regular Salt Lake City Pass price of $600.
“What we think that we're giving to 18 to 25-year-olds is a sense of community and a sense of engagement with the film world,” Tsiokos said.
Rob McFarland, a BYU professor within the Department of German & Russian, attends the Sundance Film Festival each year.
“Sundance Film Festival is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity if you live around here,” McFarland said. “They bring the best of the best.”
McFarland also suggested students research the films ahead of time if they are concerned with each film’s content.
“Just really see what is possible when it comes to filmmaking,” McFarland said.
Single film tickets can be purchased beginning Jan. 16, 2025. Further information about each package or pass can be found on the Sundance Film Festival tickets website. Customers must verify their age when purchasing either offer.
The festival will return to Park City and Salt Lake City from Jan. 23 to Feb. 2, 2025.
