The 195th Annual General Conference rolls on as the Saturday afternoon session inspires and invites all who hear its message to do good.
Cecilia and Moses Okoh, having traveled all the way from Nigeria, West Africa, were two of the thousands of people in attendance at the Conference Center on Saturday afternoon.
“It was perfect. Just beautiful words," Moses Okoh said. "Not what I expected, but beautiful."
Cecilia and Moses Okoh are both employees for BYU Pathway. They came to the U.S. for the first time to attend general conference and meet other worldwide Pathways officials.
Feeling inspired by the messages of the conference, Cecilia Okoh said that her favorite part was the messages that urged members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to share their testimonies rather than just their talents.
“I’m really happy because I feel like I have a lot of testimony to share, but not a lot of oil or talents to share,” Cecilia Okoh said. “That is just what God wants from me.”
The afternoon session of general conference also included messages of hope and an invitation to go and do.
Elder Neil L. Andersen of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles reaffirmed the First Presidency’s position on elective abortion by encouraging everyone to consider life as God does.
"Nurturing and cherishing life that is yet unborn is not a political position," Elder Andersen said. "It is a moral law confirmed by the Lord through His prophets."
President Steven J. Lund, the Young Men General President, spoke of the divinity of priesthood power that connects young men to ancient lines of authority.
“The Lord entrusts today’s bearers of the priesthood of Aaron to do very much the same thing they did anciently: to teach and administer ordinances — all to remind us of His Atonement,” President Lund said.
Elder S. Mark Palmer of the Presidency of the Seventy addressed all those who are in need of healing from the Savior.
“It is never too late to come back," he said. "With all the love in our hearts, we welcome you home.”
Elder Dale G. Renlund of the Quorum of the Twelve also shared his testimony that with the Savior’s power, “(God) expects us to become the best versions of ourselves.”
With this divine standard in mind, Renlund invited all to use their time, talents and blessings to serve all of God's children, “especially the most vulnerable and needy.”
Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf of the Quorum of the Twelve concluded this session of conference with the message that the goal of every church gathering is to “love our friends."
