Nestled in Hobble Creek Canyon, hairstylist and esthetician Kenna Curtis has turned her passion for beauty and relationships into a career at Rebel Co. Beauty Bar.
From her early days cutting her four brothers’ hair as a child to becoming a lead stylist and esthetician, Curtis has built a career rooted in creativity, connection and self-care, she said. Her journey has not only shaped her as a professional but also as a person, blending skill and discipline with her relationship-focused approach.
“I’ve loved the salon environment since I was little,” Curtis said.
Her stepmother, also a hairstylist, first introduced her to the beauty industry. It quickly became her dream.
“When I was little, my stepmom let me cut my brothers’ hair — then she would come in and fix it,” she said.
Though her early experiments with styling left her brothers with “horrible” haircuts, Curtis fell in love with the world of hair and pursued her passion right after high school.
"My career began with an apprenticeship," she said, attributing her success to this method of training.
Curtis apprenticed under head stylist Hillary Hanson at the H. Studio, where she gained one-on-one experience. She quickly transitioned to a full-time position as a lead stylist, realizing her dreams in aesthetics.
Living on her family’s 72-acre property in Hobble Creek Canyon with her husband, Curtis remains focused on her relationships. Between horses, chickens and beauty clientele, down-to-earth connection is at the center of Curtis's life and career.
Today, she is not just a hairstylist but a multifaceted beauty expert specializing in hair extensions, blonding and esthetics.
Curtis's dream has not been without sacrifice. She has days that are long, often stretching from morning into the evening, especially as she balances her dual focus on hair and skincare.
“It’s such a fulfilling job. The people I get to meet, the friends I’ve made — it’s so fun to hear about people’s lives and to make them feel beautiful," she said.
Curtis’s clients are at the heart of her work, Curtis said, and for her, the job goes beyond her dreams of styling hair.
“Someone’s self-image is ultimately their identity — it’s a really big deal,” she added. “Sometimes they’ve been disappointed by other stylists in the past, and being able to restore their confidence is so fulfilling.”

Her dedication to her work extends to every aspect of her work, from detailed consultations to ensure clarity about their desired outcomes to her honest, relationship-based approach.
“I want my clients to feel like friends, and I want them to know I’ll always work with them,” Curtis said.
Her thoughtful attention to detail and commitment to integrity have built lifelong relationships with her clientele, she said.
“She listens, she cares and she makes you feel like the most beautiful version of yourself,” long-time client MK Steiner said.
Curtis has talents that extend beyond hairstyling. She has also dedicated herself to hours of training in a variety of esthetic services.
“It’s all about self-care and feeling beautiful from head to toe. That's really where my passion for others lies,” Curtis said.
Curtis claims that continuing education in one's chosen professional field is essential. By taking multiple classes each year and following industry influencers, she has committed to staying close to trends.
Curtis’s offered insight for others who want to follow in her footstpes.
“It’s taught me how to talk to anyone and everyone," Curtis said. "It’s also helped me set boundaries — choosing to either do great work or letting someone else step in if I can’t meet a request. Integrity really matters to me.”
