Fold of Liberty Farms hosts cow cuddle sessions

When the owners of Fold of Liberty Farms in Spanish Fork noticed their friends and neighbors reaching through the fence to greet their fluffy cows, they had a lightbulb moment: why not invite the whole community into their pastures for cow cuddle sessions?

“I saw this on Instagram, I’ve been to Scotland and I loved the highland cows, so I wanted to come and experience it in Utah,” farm visitor Allyssa Meinzer said.

The farm gives visitors safety instructions, hands out combs and brushes and sends them on their way to start cuddling.

Fold of Liberty Farms owner Vernon Stout said the cows enjoy the cuddle sessions just as much as the people do.

“If you want to give them a pat and scratch them on the face or rub them on the ears, they realize that you’re not a predator and that you are here to give them a whole bunch of affection and cuddle them and give them a pamper. So they are excited about that,” Stout said.

Jeannie Young and her family found their cuddle buddies took a little getting used to.

“We felt a little timid at first but most of them are very sweet, so it’s kind of fun to get up close and personal with them,” Young said.

With these up close and personal cow cuddle sessions, Fold of Liberty Farms hopes to reduce stress and anxiety while providing a safe space for everyone to come interact with these lovable animals.
