Cosmo hosts meet-and-greet at Harvey Park

Cosmo the Cougar hosted a meet-and-greet for kids at Harvey Park in Cedar Hill, Utah on June 4.

His appearance kicked off the Cosmo in the Park summer series. He came to bring the BYU experience to kids in surrounding Utah areas.

“We just try to connect with the kids that might not be able to attend sports like in Provo," Bailey Bushman, marketing assistant for BYU Athletic Marketing, said.

Families gathered in long lines to get a picture with Cosmo. Afterwards, the kids went to activities set-up for them like a football games, cornhole, soccer and a variety of other yard games.

Attendees said the children loved meeting Cosmo.

“I think Cosmo is really cool because he does like these really cool flips and he’s very entertaining and he’s like super nice and he likes taking pictures with people," Wridley an attendee at the event said.

Another highlight of the day for the kids were playing the variety of games there with their friends.

“This park is really fun with all the games and playing with your friends and Cosmo is also very fun to meet and take some pictures,” Mason, another event attendee, said.

In bringing the energy of BYU to local children, they left the park with an appreciation for the university, and a hope to attend BYU someday.

“I want my dreams to come true to go to BYU University," Liam, event attendee and cougar fan, said.

Cosmo will be bringing the same joy to children in several other locations this summer, including American Fork, Nephi, Saratoga Springs, Pleasant Grove, Lehi and Provo. Each of his visits are on Wednesday from 10am to 11am.
