Community gathers for Payson Quilt Show

Payson is home to many talented quilters and once a year they come together to share their stories.

Each year, quilters from across the community gather in Payson, bringing with them pieces of fabric and stories.

"I love to read the stories because each quilt has a meaning behind it,” Event President Tammy said.

The Payson Quilt Show has been a staple of the community for more than two decades, where quilters of all skill levels showcase their masterpieces. Every quilt tells a unique story as participants share the meaning behind their fabric creations. Some quilts represent family legacies while others symbolize personal triumphs or major life events.

"People bring quilts to try and earn a ribbon and we also give a 'Best of Show' award. The quilter who wins gets to be in the Masters' Quilters Circle next year," she said.

The quilting experience isn’t just for master quilters, it’s for beginners too. With classes for all ages, anyone can participate in the annual quilt show.

"Everyone has snuggled under a quilt, maybe grandma’s quilt or a favorite one, so whether or not you make them, everyone loves quilts,” she said.

Whether it's a memory stitched into fabric or a life event captured in color, these quilts represent much more than just warmth, they represent lives.
