Connor Ohran is a BYU mechanical engineering student with a passion for space and through BYU's internship program in Berlin Germany, he had the chance to put that passion into a practical learning experience.
"I was able to interview with their CEO and then their head mechanical engineer and was able to find a spot on their mechanical engineering team as an intern," Ohran said.
Connor was one of many BYU students who have interned in Berlin over the years, and one of several who have worked with German Orbital Systems.
"I want to thank BYU University for sending the crème de la crème, the best of students ever," said Elena Eyngorn CEO of German Orbital Systems.
Ohran said that he spent much of his time machining different parts for their most recent satellite launched through SpaceX.
German Orbital Systems used SpaceX's rideshare missions for small satellites to carry their satellites along with 150 other satellites.
"If you have a dream and you think, wow, I'll never be able to do that someday, I was once a five year old boy dreaming about space," said Ohran. "And now, here I am."
Ohran said that he is excited to keep looking to the stars as he continues his studies at BYU.
