Becoming a nail tech as a full-time student

Becoming a nail technician can be a process, but one BYU student is enjoying the journey.

Jadyn Harsh is a BYU student, athlete, and soon to be nail technician. She says that right now, her clients are neighbors, teammates, and friends.

She plans on doing nails full time after graduation.

“I’m almost officially licensed,” Harsh said.

She completed her apprenticeship and soon she will fulfill all of the requirements.

“Being in college I can’t study to take the written yet so I have to wait until the summer,” she said.

Until then, she’ll keep doing friends’ nails.

Harsh said she does nails in the evenings, when she is home from school and practice.

Annalee Jackson likes that she can have her nails done so easily and so close to home.

“It is so nice,” Jackson said.

Becoming a nail tech will be just another step in Harsh’s nail journey.

“I started doing my own when I was 12 and then kept going and finding videos on YouTube,” she says. “In high school, I did my sister’s friends’ nails for school dances.”

Harsh enjoys making people happy by doing their nails.

When asked what the best part of it is, Harsh said, that its “having the finished product and seeing their reaction every time."
