Women rehearse instant choir performance for BYU Women's Conference

Women gathered in the Marriott Center early Thursday morning for the instant choir rehearsal, a beloved tradition of the BYU Women's Conference.

The rehearsal began bright and early in the morning. Each woman who registered for the instant choir received an email with the music beforehand, but this was the first time the women had practiced together.

"You can come together and not know a thing about what you're doing and make music with others who share the same testimony of Christ," Tam Pendleton, an instant choir participant, said.

Kirsten Quist, the choir director, led the choir in "My Song in the Night" and "I Will Walk With Jesus."

Mallory Miller, a first-time participant in the instant choir, said that his experience strengthened her testimony and helped her feel closer to the Savior.

"I just feel that Jesus is pleased with the music we're making," Miller said.

After the rehearsal, the choir performed for an audience of thousands, including BYU President C. Shane Reese.

The instant choir kicked off the beginning of the Thursday morning session of BYU Women's Conference, with several more sessions that followed on Thursday and Friday.
