BYU Parking Enforcement, a branch of BYU Security, handles parking for the university's thousands of cars spread over several dozen parking lots.
Traffic Officer Logan Bybee helps campus parking run smoothly.
“I'm in charge of making sure that everyone is parking where they're supposed to, whether they're faculty, students or employees,” Bybee said.
Bybee and his coworkers go on daily patrol, making sure cars are parked in accordance with traffic policy.
“Oftentimes we get a lot of students who don't know where to park. That's why we have these fancy dandy signs to help us out,” Bybee said.
BYU Parking provides students and faculty with different kinds of permits, each corresponding with signage marking where different permit holders can park.
“If you're a student, depending on where you’re living, you either have Y permits, basically for anyone that you can purchase online at the BYU parking websites, or you'll have other different permits that you'll get," Bybee said.
There are 10 lot types in total, organizing parking sports for faculty, graduate students, and visitors.
"It's important that we do our job to make sure that those who are following in accordance to BYU parking standards are able to get parking spaces where they should," Bybee said.
Students can register their vehicle via the BYU Parking Permit Portal or through the BYU app.
