The Wilkinson Student Center on the BYU campus has something for everyone: from a bowling alley, to career counseling to Taco Bell. Another spot in the Wilk is a salon.
Studio 1030 is a convenient place for students to come for all their cosmetic needs, right on campus.
Haircuts are just one of the services offered in Studio 1030 located in the basement of the Wilk.
"We're a full-service salon," Tavia Charles, Studio 1030 stylist, said.
The salon offers women’s and men’s haircuts, eyebrow waxing and tinting, eyelash extensions and lifts, manicures and pedicures.
"We all have our cosmetology license, we have to get them before working here," Charles said.
It also has nail techs and an esthetician on staff.
"I just love the environment. Like, I just love being able to come into work and being just like greeted so happy like ‘Hi Tavia, How’s it going?’ It’s just really fun,” Charles said.
People living in the area, professors and BYU students tell me they love the convenience of getting a great haircut right on campus without having to go far.
“We all just have that same culture of just like wanting to belong and be able to love one another,” said Charles.
The studio exemplifies the positive environment of BYU.
"And it’s just really fun,” Charles said. “I love the spirit of Studio 1030."
