Every Harry Potter fan dreams of what it might be like to attend Hogwarts, and some fans got a little taste of that magic this past weekend.
The Skyroom hosted a Halloween Hogwarts Feast from October 23-27 filled with food, fun and just a little bit of magic.
It was the Skyroom’s third year hosting the feast.
“We were brainstorming to see what we could do that would be enjoyable to the campus and the community here,” Skyroom Manager Susie Griffin said. “This was one of the things that we knew would attract not just college students but small children and parents and grandparents.”
The entire restaurant was transformed to replicate the great hall with a table for each Hogwarts house, banners, floating candles and pumpkins and dimmed lights to set the mood.
“You walk in, the movie's going, you have the music and we're in our costumes,” banquet attendee Juju Maughn said. “It feels like Hogwarts.”
Attendees went all out with their costumes, anticipating the costume contest at the event. The winners were Lucius Malfoy and Bellatrix Lestrange, little Gryffindor students and a group of Hogwarts frat boys, though there were many other amazing costumes making it a steep competition.
The food itself truly brought the feeling of a Hogwarts feast with shepard's pie, rotisserie chicken, carved ham, vegetables, salad, rolls, potatoes, butterbeer, pumpkin juice and more.
Maughn and her friend Allie Smoot are huge Harry Potter fans and were excited when they found they could use their dining dollars to pay for their tickets. It was a nice switch up from their usual meals at the Cannon and Wilkinson centers.
Along with the meal, attendees could play multiple Harry Potter themed games such as Uno, Trivia, Lexicon or work on a Harry Potter puzzle.
But, the real treat for all these Harry Potter fans was just soaking in the magic of the environment.
