Gas smell
Tenants in Building 10 of Wyview Park triggered a carbon monoxide alarm after drying pears in an oven for five hours without proper ventilation.

Officers responded to two carbon monoxide alarms in Building 26 of Wyview Park triggered by a faulty sensor.

The Provo Fire Department and police assessed the safety of an apartment after reports of a gas odor and determined it was safe.

Fraud
There was a report of a BYU employee’s unauthorized use of Cougar Cash and other online funds. The case is still under investigation.

Welfare check
A student from Chipman Hall was reported missing by her roommate after attending a party. The missing student had texted her roommate that she was leaving the party but was not answering her phone. She was later found safe at a friend’s apartment.

A person exhibiting agitated behavior voluntarily left the Harman Continuing Education Building after BYU Police arrived. The individual did not pose a threat to others and was reportedly experiencing a mental health crisis. The person boarded a bus and left the area.

Officers conducted a welfare check on a woman at the Jesse Knight Building after she had made statements to a friend about suicidal thoughts exacerbated by a recent incident at UVU. The woman said she had no intention of harming herself, and officers accompanied her to Counseling and Psychological Services to meet with a counselor.

Information
An officer received a phone report that a former student, who had a no-contact order involving a faculty member, was present on campus. The former student did not make any prohibited contact, and there was no evidence of a crime.

An officer spoke with a BYU student who received a message from a friend at Ensign College about rumors of potential school violence in Utah. No evidence of an immediate threat was found.

A student reported being approached outside the Eyring Science Center by three men who claimed to be BYU students looking for a class but could not provide a class schedule. When the student said he couldn’t help, the men ran off. BYU Police found no evidence of criminal activity.

A police officer responded to a report of harassing text messages sent by a male student to a female student. It was determined that no crime had occurred, and the female student agreed to send a warning text to the male student.

Medical
A man with a dislocated pinky finger was treated by BYU EMS.

Emergency services responded to a man who fainted in the Tanner Building and was vomiting and feeling unwell. He was treated by BYU EMS and released.

Two students biking on the sidewalk west of the Cannon Center crashed into each other. One rider hit his head and vomited. He was treated and released by BYU EMS.

A student at the Wilkinson Student Center was cleaning an injury in a bathroom when the scab came off and began bleeding uncontrollably. He had received the injury while donating plasma. BYU medics responded and bandaged his arm.

Theft
A bicycle was reported stolen from a bike rack south of the multi-cultural hall in Wyview Park. The case remains under investigation.

A bicycle with teal green pedals was reported stolen from the Life Sciences Building parking garage. The case remains under investigation.

A MegaWheels electric scooter was stolen from a bike rack between the Richards Building and the Smith Fieldhouse. Two suspects were seen on camera footage removing the chain lock.

Accident
A parked vehicle’s front bumper was damaged when a truck backed into it at the Creamery on Ninth. The vehicle owners exchanged information, and the scene was documented with photographs.

A traffic accident at Heritage Drive and 900 East resulted in minor injuries that were treated by the Provo Fire Department.

A BYU Food-To-Go truck backed into a parked vehicle in parking lot 15.

A minor traffic accident occurred in parking lot 40 near the Tanner Building. It was resolved privately through an online traffic report.

A parked vehicle at the Riviera Apartments was damaged, and a note was left. The owner obtained the driver’s insurance information, and the situation was resolved without police involvement.

A traffic accident involving injuries occurred at the intersection of Canyon Road and University Parkway. BYU Police and the Provo Police Department responded to collect statements, and BYU EMS evaluated the drivers.

Hit and run
A delayed phone report was made regarding a hit-and-run crash that damaged a vehicle the previous week. No security footage of the incident was found.

Lost property
Four master keys were reported missing from the Jesse Knight Building. One key was later found and turned in to the operations manager. The case remains under investigation.

A student left her backpack on a chair and returned to find it missing. It was later found in a janitor’s office and returned to the student by police.

Property damage
A driver reported damaging a parking sign in Lot 20 with their vehicle while leaving. An officer documented the damage and recorded the driver’s insurance information.

Attempt to locate
An officer attempted to locate a vehicle after a license plate recognition alert showed a banned vehicle was on campus but could not find it.

Citizen contact
A BYU employee reported seeing a man on campus with whom she had a prior incident. BYU Police verified the man had not been banned from campus and that no protective orders were in place between them. An officer escorted the employee to the BYU Police station to meet with a victim’s advocate for resources and support.
