Medical
An individual at the Riviera Apartments reported that their roommate, who is over 21, had consumed a large amount of alcohol. The roommate was repeatedly vomiting and required medical assistance. Provo paramedics provided aid and transported the individual to the emergency room for further evaluation.
Disturbance
Officers were dispatched to the Music Building after a report of a person yelling loudly as they walked by on 900 E. The complainant did not wish to press charges. When officers arrived, they did not observe any criminal activity as the man in question was no longer causing a disturbance.
Accident
A vehicle turning onto Cougar Blvd. made contact with a skateboarder crossing the street. The driver reported that they waited for pedestrians to cross and only turned when the intersection was clear. BYU EMS and Provo paramedics evaluated the skateboarder, who sustained minor injuries.
Harassment
BYU Police received a report from the BYU Security "See Something, Say Something" platform concerning a potential stalking incident at the Wilkinson Student Center. A woman told BYU Police that she and a male friend had informed a male suspect that she was not interested in pursuing a relationship. Despite this, the male suspect continued to attend the swing dance class, making her feel uncomfortable. The woman provided the suspect's first name, described him as an older white man, and stated she is unsure if he is a BYU student. Efforts are underway to identify the suspect so police can tell him to cease contact.
A building employee who works in the evening reported that a man who does not attend BYU has repeatedly shown up while she is working and asked her out. The employee's manager asked the man to leave. He was then contacted and told to stop bothering the employee. The manager was instructed to call the police again if he continues to show up.
Welfare Check
A concerned person reported a vehicle in Lot 2 with its door open and lights on, with no one around, raising fears of abduction. Initially, police were not able to locate a vehicle matching the description, but later found one with a person in the driver's seat who confirmed they were fine.
Criminal Mischief
There was a report of damaged toilet valves in the men's restroom in the Eyring Science Center annex. An officer responded to the scene and took photographs of the damage. The case is currently under investigation.
Suspicious
There was a report of a suspicious man in the clothing lab in the Joseph F. Smith Building. The man was not a student and was found in a restricted area. When lab personnel asked him to leave, he did not exit immediately. The case is currently under investigation.
Unauthorized vehicle on campus
A license plate reader identified a blue 2001 Chevy S10 pickup with a shell that was flagged as a vehicle associated with a theft case from the CONE. Officials did not find the vehicle on the scene and later verified with security footage that it had left campus. The information was forwarded to investigations.
Information
A hiker at the Y trailhead was with their dog that was unleashed and reportedly a nuisance. Another individual expressed frustration about the dog and reportedly used harsh and aggressive language when speaking to the dog owner. An officer documented the incident and identified the people involved for future reference.
Theft
An individual reported that their electric scooter was stolen from the bike rack between the JFSB and Talmage Building on Halloween. The scooter was not locked up. The individual called back later, saying the scooter had been returned and she mistakenly thought it was stolen.
Public Peace — Loud Party
More than 500 people attended an unapproved Halloween party in parking lot 56. The event was shut down by authorities, and a huge mess was left behind. The grounds department was notified about the mess, and the person who threw the party was documented in the report.
