Suspicious
A security officer at the Harold B. Lee Library observed an
individual entering the library from a security camera. The person had an object in their mouth which appeared to be marijuana. When an officer made contact with the individual, the object was determined to be a cinnamon stick.

A student reported receiving a text message from an unknown number while she was picking up her friends from the airport that said, "hi saw you and your friends at the airport; took a picture of you guys and found your number through a website **." An officer was dispatched. Upon further investigation, it was confirmed that the sender of the text was the student's cousin.

A report was received of a suspicious man on campus removing BYU flags from LaVell Edwards Stadium. Campus officers located the individual and escorted him away from the area. As of now, no criminal charges have been filed.

Three men in their early 20s wearing BYU apparel were reported driving around Heritage Halls in a golf cart while yelling and screaming. They nearly collided into the individual who made the report before parking the golf cart and running away when they heard security was being called. The suspects have not been located.

The resident assistant of the Riviera reported a faint smell of marijuana coming from outside the window. Officers reported to the area and could not detect any signs of marijuana.

Medical
An officer and BYU EMS responded to the Richards Building field where a student had twisted their knee while playing intramural soccer. BYU EMS provided first aid. The student decided to pursue further medical treatment on their own.

Officers responded to the West Campus (WC) football field for a patient who twisted their back while playing football. The patient was evaluated and cleared by Provo Fire and BYU EMS before it was decided the patient would be transported to the hospital.

Harassment
A BYU student reported individuals wearing red and black shirts that had derogatory messages on them in parking lot 45. No individuals matching the description were located.

Trespassing
A concerned individual reported Utah Fans wearing red trespassing and playing ball on a closed field. When officers checked the field no one was on it, though a group of Utah fans were tailgating near by.

Officers patrolling the BYU vs. U of U game apprehended two juvenile males who were scaling the fence at LaVell Edwards Stadium to gain unlawful admission to the game. They were released to their parents and charges were submitted to the juvenile court.

During the BYU vs. U of U game, officers apprehended an adult man who had jumped the fence to watch the game. He was given a citation and informed he would not be permitted on the BYU premises for the remainder of the night.

Information/Scam
A caller reported fraud and scam attempts involving threatening emails and text messages demanding money. No monetary loss has been reported, but the scammer was also using social media to solicit scam business opportunities.

Information on Threats
Campus authorities were concerned about some of the chatter on social media leading up to the rivalry game against U of U. Rumors online suggested that antagonists may have been planning to attempt to black out the Y on Y Mountain, along with other unsportsmanlike behavior. Officers responded with proper documentation and protocol.

Drugs
A bag of pills was discovered in parking lot 16. An officer obtained the bag and turned it into evidence to be destroyed.

Extortion
A BYU student reported an online extortion case after sending nude photos to an unknown number. The suspect demanded $1,000 or threatened to post the photos online. Officers determined the number was a spoof number, likely from abroad. The student was advised to block the number and cease all contact before being referred to the BYU Victims Advocate and Title IX office for further support.
