Trespassing
Three men were spotted gathering signatures on campus, and after security told them to stop, officers later found them near the Cannon Center and issued written warnings.

A man who jumped a fence onto The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Motion Picture Studio property was located after leaving the area and was given a trespassing warning.

Two men were reported gathering signatures for Prop 4 near the Martin Building, and officers found they were from out of state and didn’t realize they were on BYU property. They were cooperative and chose to leave campus to continue their petitioning elsewhere.

Welfare check
A concerned individual contacted BYU Police about a possibly distressed adult male. Officers searched the area, but were unable to locate the individual.

A BYU student was reported for making suicidal threats. During a welfare check, he explained that feelings of homesickness and frustration with his girlfriend had led to the threats, but he did not intend to harm himself. He later agreed to seek mental health support and was transported to the hospital, where he checked in with his cousin.

BYU Police checked the Y Trailhead after a report that a man planned to harm himself, but cell data later showed he was actually in Provo. Provo officers found him safe, and no further action was needed.

Lost and Found called about a wallet holding credit cards from several different people, which initially seemed suspicious. After checking the names, the staff realized the cards had just been collected at various times and accidentally stored together, so everything was returned to Lost and Found.

Drugs
An officer checked out a baggie of suspicious pills found at the Creamery on Ninth after 1 p.m., though no one knew who left it. The pills turned out to be Xanax and MDMA, and the officer booked them into evidence for destruction.

Citizen contact
A BYU staff member reported concerns about an unidentified adult male on campus. An officer at the Jesse Knight Building spoke with the staff member, who clarified that there was no specific criminal or suspicious activity.

Accident
Officers looked into a reported hit‑and‑run in the Wilkinson Student Center visitor lot, but were unable to confirm anything through security tape. When they updated the caller, the person admitted they weren’t sure the incident happened there and thanked the police.

Officers followed up on a report of a minor crash where a driver turning right didn’t see a bicyclist. Neither party exchanged information at the time, but police later identified the driver and documented the incident in an accident report.

Officers responded to a delayed accident report in Lot 26A. A report was taken to document the incident.

Theft
BYU Police Department responded to a theft report at the Smith Fieldhouse in the student weight room gym. The victim stated he left his wallet and, upon return, noticed money was missing. Police are reviewing footage in hopes of locating this person.

A stolen moped from Lot 16 was reported last week. The owner was contacted by phone to document the theft and is working to provide identifying information, including the vehicle identification number.

BYU Police responded to a report of a stolen bicycle on campus. Camera footage indicated the bike was taken from a campus bike rack. The suspect has not yet been identified, and the case is being handled by BYU detectives.

A person left a green tote bag containing jeans and $300 worth of makeup in the Cougareat, and later it went missing. Video surveillance showed someone stealing the bag and leaving. The suspect has not been found, and the case is under investigation.

Medical
BYU Police Department responded to a medical emergency at the Joseph F. Smith Building, where a patient had stroke-like symptoms. Officers learned the woman commonly suffers from hemiplegic migraines. The patient was not hospitalized but was given a ride home to rest.

BYU Police and BYU EMS responded to a cadaver lab classroom on a report of a student who had fainted. The student was evaluated by EMS and released on scene to a roommate for observation.

A female student riding a scooter on campus experienced a minor accident. She lost control and crashed, but did not hit the pedestrian she was trying to avoid. The student sustained minor injuries and declined medical assistance.

A report was received of an unconscious but breathing female at the Tanner Building. Upon arrival, Provo paramedics were already evaluating the patient. After assessment, the paramedics released the patient into the care of her brother.

A woman hurt her foot when a table fell on her in an SFH classroom, and BYU EMS, Provo EMS, and a BYU officer treated her on scene. After she was cleared, the officer gave her a ride to her car on campus.

A BYU EMS officer checked on a student at the SFH who felt sharp pain in the back of his head and neck while working out. After evaluating him, EMS determined he’d simply overexerted himself.

Found property/Lost property
A piece of jewelry was found at a sporting event and reported to the Marriott Center office. The item was then transported to the WSC Lost and Found by an officer.

A BYU officer followed up by phone after a Wyview resident reported missing laundry bags they believed were taken by mistake. Video showed someone using the bags for their own laundry, and the officer asked RAs to help identify them.

BYU Police were notified that a wallet had been found at the SFH and later retrieved the wallet. The wallet was taken to the WSC Lost and Found and later returned to the owner.

Alarm
An officer responded to a panic alarm at the Music Building. Officers arrived and found a child had accidentally pushed the alarm. The officer reset the alarm, and the system cleared.

Provo Fire and officers responded to the JKB after a BYU IT employee reported a swollen tablet battery, fearing it might explode. The fire captain disassembled the tablet and safely removed the batteries, which were then properly disposed of.

Suspicious
Officers checked out a report of someone dressed in black hiding near the Tennis Courts Building, but didn’t find anyone. Witnesses only noted the smell of burnt marijuana, and a full search of the area turned up no one matching the description.

BYU Police responded to Helaman Halls following a report of a male walking with a young child who appeared suspicious. After patrolling the area and speaking with several students, officers did not find anyone matching the description or observe anything suspicious.

A police officer was dispatched to Helaman Halls in response to a report of a vehicle driving around the parking lot while yelling profanities out of its window. Upon arrival, the officer was unable to locate the vehicle.

A person soliciting signatures on campus had a verbal confrontation with another student causing an officer to report to the scene. This person was previously warned by a security sergeant and was asked to leave campus by officers.

Unsecured door
During an extra patrol at the Marriott Center, an officer discovered an unsecured, slightly ajar door on the southwest concourse that was not in alarm. The officer promptly closed and secured the door.
