Accident
A driver left the scene after hitting another vehicle in the Marriott Center parking lot, but witnesses left a note identifying what happened. Police contacted the driver who left, insurance was exchanged and an accident report resolved the situation.
A delayed hit-and-run report was filed from lot 16 north of the Jesse Knight Building. Video revealed that the damage was already present before the complainant parked on campus. The individual was referred to Provo Police Department to file an accident report.
A campus police officer responded to parking lot 49 on BYU campus because of a private property traffic incident. An individual was attempting to park his vehicle and noticed an incident involving their parked car. Dispatch successfully located the owner of the parked vehicle, and the officer had both parties exchange information..
Medical
A student reported a medical concern at the Wilkinson Center. She refused assistance and this call was cancelled prior to officer arrival.
Officers responded to a report of an allergic reaction at Heritage Halls building 8. The patient had reacted to a skincare product. Medics evaluated the individual, who refused transport at that time.
A student at the Thomas L. Martin Building (MARB) experienced a seizure. Provo Medical arrived, but the student continued having seizures and was later transported to the hospital. Her mother was notified of the incident.
An adult female may have sustained a head or shoulder injury after crashing her scooter near Campus Drive. An officer responded with BYU EMS and Provo Fire/EMS. She was transported by BYU Police to the Student Health Center urgent care for shoulder pain.
Criminal Mischief
A vandalism incident occurred on the cork board in the pedestrian tunnel leading to Helaman Halls. RA and housing officials will review the incident and arrange for the board to be replaced but found no suspect information.
Officers responded to a resident's call at Wymount Terrace reporting a male solicitor in the apartment complex. Despite searching the area, they did not locate the man, and no further related calls were received.
A witness reported a hit-and-run in lot 26, allowing an officer to identify the at‑fault driver and gather the required information for the exchange. The driver was cited for leaving the scene and failing to report, and the incident was formally documented.
A police officer responded to a delayed theft report outside the Life Sciences Building after a man discovered his green hoodie missing. He confirmed no coworkers had taken it, and with no witnesses or suspect information available, the incident was documented.
An officer was notified of a large paint spill in lot 40, located just north of the Tanner Building. Upon reviewing surveillance footage, the officer observed two students, working on an art project. They left the scene without cleaning up their mess and officers are trying to locate the individuals.
Citizen Contact
A police officer observed a male rider on a motorized scooter lose control and spin out at slow speeds as he pulled out onto 800 North near 550 East. The rider was uninjured, and the scooter remained undamaged.
Provo Police responded to a report of three males pulling down their pants on the side of the road and exposing other private areas. Officers were unable to locate the suspects; however, BYU Dispatch obtained camera footage that traced the suspects back to Helaman Halls. The suspects were contacted and interviewed, and no charges were filed.
A police officer returned a call about a delayed traffic accident in the Heritage Halls parking lot, where the other party initially agreed to resolve the issue but later refused. The complainant was advised of their civil options and chose not to pursue the matter further.
Officers responded to the Eyring Science Center area after a report of two females filming students. The area was checked, but the individuals could not be located and appeared to have left campus.
A BYU officer responded to the north side of the Tanner Building after a scooter accident was reported. Upon arrival, the officer confirmed there were no injuries and only minor damage to the scooter as the rider was exiting a private drive.
A police officer responded after a woman reported feeling unsafe during a car ride in which she felt unable to get out of the vehicle. The officer identified the driver and passengers, and they were cited for reckless driving and disorderly conduct
BYU Police were dispatched to a possible hit-and-run. The driver who caused the accident returned to their vehicle. They did not realize they had hit another vehicle and were quick to exchange information civilly with the other party.
Alarm
Officers responded to a motion alarm in the air intake area beneath the Joseph F. Smith Building. After investigation, all doors were secure, and no suspicious activity was observed in the sensor area.
Suspicious
A hiker reported finding a torn, blood‑stained jacket near the top of the Y trail, but photos suggested the discoloration was from sun exposure rather than fresh blood. Officers searched the area with a drone and found nothing suspicious.
Found Person
A report of a possibly distressed 7‑year‑old seen walking toward the Bean Museum, but video footage showed him joining a group of boys and three adult men before leaving in a vehicle. The child did not appear distressed, and the complainant confirmed the boy in the footage was the same one they had reported.
Found Property
A BYU officer responded to the Smith Fieldhouse for a found wallet. The officer called the owner and was able to return the wallet.
Fire – Gas Smell
Officers investigated a report of a natural gas odor at Wyview Park, but Provo Fire found no methane or carbon monoxide despite the noticeable smell near the doorway and cleared the tenants to re‑enter. Maintenance was contacted for follow‑up, one tenant reported a slight headache but denied medical help.
