
Traffic offense
An SUV with people hanging out of it was reportedly driving recklessly around Helaman Halls. When officers arrived, the vehicle was gone and they were unable to locate it.
Agency assist
Detectives from the Santaquin Police Department and Campus Police worked to catch a drywall contractor in the Harold B. Lee Library. Library security helped them find and arrest the suspect.
Suspicious
A suspicious-looking stroller was reported at West Campus. An officer inspected the stroller and found nothing out of the ordinary.
Someone was seen taking drinks from a fridge in a secured area. Officers called to the scene determined the man was the building manager and was perfectly authorized.
Welfare check
A student forgot to end their safe-walk, alerting an officer when it later lost connection. Upon inspection, the officer found the student was safe and nothing had happened.
Disturbance
Several skateboarders were reportedly seen in Lot 43, and the police were called over fears about accidental property damage. When the police arrived, the skaters had already left and did not return.
Medical
Someone took a hard fall at a convocation ceremony at the Marriott Center. The Provo Fire Department was immediately notified and the victim was given care.
An adult male, also at the Marriott Center, experienced intense chest pain and was aided by BYU Fire and EMS
A woman fell unconscious at West Campus. Responders on the scene arrived to find her conscious and in good condition.
A student fell unconscious in the Heber J. Grant Building. Provo EMS treated him and determined that he was in stable condition.
A female suffered medical complications at Wymount Terrace. Provo paramedics recommended she go to the hospital for further treatment.
Accident
A small traffic accident occurred in the Maeser Building parking lot when a motorist damaged a parked vehicle while parking. The drivers exchanged information and the collision was documented without further issue.
A hit-and-run incident reportedly occurred near the Engineering Building. The individual who brought the complaint forward says it’s the second time their car has been hit this year and is reviewing camera footage with the police department.
Robbery-alarm
A man was reportedly attempting to open a door at the Richards Building when two officers arrived at the scene. They had been alerted by a robbery alarm and found he had accidentally hit a panic button. They swiftly resolved the issue by resetting the alarm.
Alarms
Police handled several lockouts in different buildings on campus and a total of 16 campus alarms.
Lost property
Several individuals notified BYU University Police about a missing backpack. Upon checking the lost and found, an officer discovered the missing bag and promptly returned it to those concerned.
A lost wallet was found in the bleachers at the Smith Field House. The owner was contacted by campus police and arrangements have been made for them to retrieve it.
