"Let's Taco 'Bout Belonging" invites graduate students to BYU campus

For graduate students at BYU, it can be hard to feel included. That is why the Office of Belonging is reaching out to those students who are often overlooked.

“There’s only 3,000 graduate students instead of the 30,000 undergrads, “ Ashley Pun Eveson, Vice President for the BYU Graduate Student Society, said.

Ashley Pun Eveson is a master’s student in communications. She is also the vice president of events for the Graduate Student Society.

She said this event was first held last year. It was brought back this year.

The event starts at The Office of Belonging where graduate students are given a tour of the resources on campus.

After the tour concludes, they move to the Garden Courts where they are introduced to other campus resources such as Y-Serve and Women services.

“We also have like the BYUSA clubs so these grads students can know that if they ever need help with anything or like if they're free on a Tuesday night, there are clubs to join,” Joseph Abu Manneh, of the BYU Office of Belonging, said

Students had the chance to interact with the facility and better understand the resources available to them.

Once they learned about these resources, the students were treated to tacos.

This event helped graduate students feel part of the university.

“It was cool to better understand what was available for students,” Clarissa Cook, a graduate student, said.

Because of the Taco 'Bout Belonging event, graduate students have a better understanding of BYU.
