BYU will install two new transmission electron microscopes in the Eyring Science Center

As part of an expansion of the Eyring Science Center, BYU is installing two transmission electron microscopes.

The new microscopes, also known as TEMs, are high-powered tools capable of capturing 3D microscopic images at atomic resolution. TEMs are commonly used by Ph.D. students, but the new BYU microscopes will provide real-world experience to undergraduate students.

How BYU Public Health is celebrating 150 years of BYU

BYU Public Health is joining BYU’s 150-year celebration with service projects and educational opportunities.

Public health students sorted donated glasses for refurbishing at a service event Monday, Sept. 8, in the Wilkinson Student Center. BYU Public Health will hold a public seminar once a month in September, October and November. The seminars are part of the public health lecture series and offer students a chance to learn more about the field from professionals.

BYU acquires Orrin G. Hatch papers collection

The Orrin G. Hatch Foundation has donated an archival collection of more than 2,000 boxes of personal papers and legislative documents from the late BYU alumnus and Republican Sen. Orrin Hatch to BYU.

The donation also includes funding to ensure the collection’s preservation, cataloging and eventual public and scholarly access. BYU Library’s Special Collections department is preparing the materials for long-term preservation.
