BYU professor studies how one act of kindness each week can improve well-being
A study conducted by BYU psychology and neuroscience professor Julianne Holt-Lunstad shows that offering a single act of kindness each week reduces loneliness, social isolation and social anxiety, and promotes neighborhood relationships.
Holt-Lunstad and her team created the KIND challenge where participants commit to offering an act of kindness every week for a month. More than 4,000 participants chose from various options such as acts of service, sharing information or connecting with others.
Participants noticed a reduction in loneliness, less anxiety, better neighborhood connections and more.
