BYU invention gets ranked on Mark Rober's coolest things list

BYU’s “folding chair of the future” was listed as the seventh coolest thing featured on Mark Rober’s CrunchLabs in the past year.

Mark Rober is a BYU alumnus who has gained 59 million subscribers on YouTube over the past years with his science and engineering videos. He saw the folding chair when he was working with engineers on campus on a different project.

The BYU Instagram describes the chair as “a compliant mechanism, cut out of a single sheet of plywood.”

BYU cross country sweeps at Big 12 Championship

BYU won the 2024 Big 12 Cross Country Championship title on Nov. 1 in Waco, Texas.

The cross country team swept in both the men's and women's titles by each securing 41 points in their respective races. The last time both groups won was in 2022 when they were still part of the West Coast Conference.

Firas Zreik performs in Utah for the first time at BYU

Firas Zreik is a composer, lyricist, educator and kanun player from New York. He will be performing at BYU on Nov. 15 for the Bravo series.

The kanun is a trapezoidal plucked zither central to Middle Eastern and North African music traditions. Zreik's music can be accessed on all streaming platforms.
