Two BYU School of Communications documentaries featured at Zions Indie Film Festival

Two documentaries created by journalism students in the BYU School of Communications were screened at the Zions Indie Film Festival at the SCERA Center in Orem on Feb. 26.

The two projects, “The Savior Stood Before Mine Eyes,” and “Pathway to Education: Breaking Ground in Ghana” were made by BYU journalism capstone students. The documentaries were presented in the Documentary Short Film category.

BYU School of Accountancy researchers win 2025 Best Paper Award

BYU professors David Wood and Jeff Pickerd, along with professor Scott Emett from Arizona State University and professor Marc Eulerich from the University of Duisburg-Essen, won the 2025 Best Paper Award at the Accounting Information Systems, or AIS, midyear meeting for their study on deepfakes.

Their research paper focused on how investors react to deepfaked financial news. The study concluded that these deepfakes pose a threat to investors.

Jude K. Osasere Osayawe selected as 2025 American Chemical Society Pharma Scholar

The BYU Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry congratulated graduate student Jude K. Osasere Osayawe for being accepted into the 2025 American Chemical Society, or ACS, Pharma Scholars cohort.

The Pharma Scholars program sponsors select graduate students who are interested in working for the pharmaceutical industry.

The award fuels Osawyawe's passion for advancing pharmaceutical research and inspires him “to contribute meaningfully to science and global health," he said.
