Students gathered at BYUSA’s Club Rush Jan. 21 in the Wilkinson Student Center's Garden Court to explore the wide range of clubs offered at BYU.

With options ranging from whitewater rafting to speech and debate, the event gave students a chance to discover the wide array of interests represented on campus.

BYUSA Vice President of Clubs Ezra Leauanae helped organize the event alongside other representatives.

“Attending Club Rush is the best way to see all the different clubs offered here at BYU,” Leauanae said. “There’s a wide range of hobbies, skills, interests, and passions.”

Rows of booths lined the Garden Court, with representatives eagerly advertising their clubs to students passing by.

Thomas Cassler, the president of the Dating Made Simple Club, promoted dating tips and advice at the event.

“It’s important to have clubs on campus because people need a break from the difficulties they may be facing in life and at school,” Cassler said.

While Cassler’s club focuses on relationships and meeting new people, other clubs, such as the Mountain Biking Club, encourage students to get outside and explore.

No matter the theme, Club Rush provided an opportunity for students to connect and get involved.

With the new year underway, Club Rush proved to be a great event for students to find new hobbies or interests. BYU sophomore Maya Widdison, attended with the goal of trying something new.

“One of my New Year’s resolutions is to put myself out there more,” Widdison said. “I think I’m going to try and go to the Bring-Your-Own-Bowl Club so I can meet new people over cereal.”

The Club Rush event, put on annually by BYUSA, brought people together and created an environment where students could find their niche.

Students interested in learning more about these clubs can attend Clubs Night, held every Tuesday from 7-10 p.m. in the Wilkinson Student Center.
