Sister Kristin M. Yee, the second counselor in the Relief Society General Presidency, addressed Education Week attendees in the Marriott Center on Thursday, Aug. 21.
She spoke on preparing ourselves to be pure vessels in the hands of the Lord in preparation for His Second Coming using seven points:
- Realize that what you have to offer the Lord is good
“You have gifts, personalities, and experiences and perspectives that are needed now,” Sister Yee said.
“I need to just act on those impressions and promptings because I know it really will bless others and it will bless myself,” Education Week student Laree Hansen said.
- Strive to keep your heart soft, yielding to the Spirit
- Minister and be ministered to
“Choosing to let the Lord minister through us and to let others minister to us and our families, helps to keep our hearts soft and close to His spirit,” Sister Yee said.
- Seek to do things in the Lord's way, for the battle is the Lord's
- Worship regularly in the House of the Lord
“When I'm there I truly feel close to him,” Education Week student Tracy Furness said. “(It) really helps me focus on the importance of the covenants I've made.”
- Let the Lord carry what you cannot
“The Lord is not limited by mortal constraints,” Sister Yee said. “The Lord has time for you. You're not a burden to Him.”
“I'm so grateful that the Lord has promised us, if we will give Him our troubles and worries, He will lighten our load,” Hansen said.
- Trust in the Lord that you may not run faster than you have strength
“I know he came and I know he will come again,” Sister Yee said.
