"Shark! The Interactive Musical," took to the stage Jan. 30-31, in a performance where the audience helps decide the ending.
"This is 'Shark! The Interactive Musical' based off of — more or less, loosely — 'Jaws' the movie," Peter Blackham, pianist for the musical, said. "I get to make the music that supports them in their singing, and experimenting with different sounds to try and symbolize this shark that's terrorizing the city."
During the musical, the audience members were able to add their input and make certain decisions within the play.
"The whole idea was really about the audience and making them feel as though they were a part of the community. So we explored that for two months, went on Christmas break and then got a script on hand and choreographed it and made it a musical," Harley Crabb, an actress in the musical, said.
The students just wrapped up their last matinee, but BYU professors who created "Shark! The Interactive Musical" are working on a book about interactive theatre which they hope to publish next year.
