BYU Students Find Comfort in Holiday Decorations on Campus

As finals draw near, BYU students are finding comfort in festive sights around campus. Decorations like lights and the 150th-anniversary Christmas tree are brightening the end of the semester and helping students de-stress.

“It feels homey, it reminds you of home, and it just brings that Christmas spirit in,” said Blaike Kelson, a general helpd desk manager at the library. “It takes your mind off all finals and big projects and different things like that.”

Even small touches of holiday décor lift spirits as students push through the final weeks of classes and exams.

“For me, I think that they make me smile every single time,” said Sydney Bennett, another student. “It makes me feel like there's something bright to look forward to.”

During the early winter evenings, the lights and tinsel provide more than decoration.

“When it's cold and gray outside, it's nice to have just a little bit of fun sparkle and light inside,” Kelson said.

For many students, the festive touches are a welcome reminder of the season’s meaning.

“It's a really stressful period for a lot of people, and it gets really busy and you're just trying to grind out the last bit of work before you get to take a break for the holidays," Bennett said. "So, I think it's important to remember that there's always something positive to look forward to.

With just a few weeks until Christmas and even fewer until finals, these decorations bring light and hope to campus.

Campus decorations are a welcome reminder that the holiday break is just around the corner, and students can’t wait to enjoy it.
