The Cougar Run is one of BYU's most popular homecoming activities that has been happening since the early 1980’s.
Hundreds of BYU students, alumni and families show up to the Clarence F. Robison track to participate each year.
The event not only gives fans an opportunity to show their BYU pride, but also raises funds for the BYU track and cross country teams.
Despite not being a huge fan of running, Gillian Booth still had a great time.
“I actually had so much fun,” Booth said. “It was so fun.”
Jamison Cartwright has participated multiple times.
“It's just another activity we can do on top of your football game and all the other stuff like the parties and things,” Cartwright said.
Cartwright runs everyday, except Sunday, and races about every three weeks.
Clearly being an accomplished runner, Cartwright came in first place for men at 15:48.
Despite wearing red shorts for the race, he still roots for the cougars.
“That was a mistake, these were the only ones that were clean,” Cartwright said. “I shouldn't have worn red today, that was a big mistake. I love the cougars and would always go for them.”
While some were running, others were hard at work getting breakfast ready.
Sticking with tradition, all race participants and attendees were treated to a blue pancake breakfast sponsored by Kodiak.
The line stayed consistently long as it seems everyone needed a little fuel to get ready to cheer loud at the game that night.
