The Bean Life Science Museum on the BYU campus hosted its Fall 2024 Mystery Dinner Night on Saturday, Nov. 9.
The event was modeled after the board game "Clue," where guests solve a murder mystery over the course of dinner.
Museum employees dressed up as the main characters of the board game "Clue." These characters included Mrs. Peacock, Ms. Scarlett, Professor Plum, Mr. Green, Colonel Mustard, Mrs. White and more.
Riddles were given to unlock characters, weapons and rooms, and the guests had the opportunity to ask questions to the different characters in order to try and unmask the killer.
“My favorite part of the night was the riddles. They were such an awesome challenge,” event participant Joanne Nelson said. “If they do it again in the winter semester, I think a lot of people would get tickets for it."
Guests attending were encouraged to dress up to add to the ambiance of the event.
A dinner of spaghetti alfredo and breadsticks was served at the beginning of the night. Once the cake was served for dessert, the guests began solving their clues.
Guests came both in groups and as parties of one, but all participants appeared to enjoy the experience regardless of who they came with.
“I went alone and ended up meeting two other people who also went alone, so we formed a team and had a great time,” attendee Ella Mask said.
The guests weren’t the only ones who had fun at the event. Some employees working the event also deemed the night a success.
“I feel like it was super successful. Everyone was having fun,” Laura Scriber, an employee of the Bean Museum who played the role of Mrs. Peacock, said.
Tickets cost $25 for the public and $15 for BYU students. Brick Oven catered the food and was advertised on the museum’s Instagram
The truth of who "killed" Mr. Bean did not leave the walls of the dinner party, as no guest was quoted disclosing the outcome of the “whodunit” mystery.
