BYU Ballroom Dance hosted the U.S. National Amateur DanceSport Championships.
The Marriott Center was packed with talent as dancers from across the nation competed from March 11-15.
Judges watched as competitors of all skill levels performed various styles of dance such as latin, ballroom, western, smooth and rhythm.
BYU dance student Leila Wong competed in four different events.
Wong said it was "stressful, fun and just very energetic."
Wong has been dancing since she was four years old. She said she felt excited to showcase the results of her hard work.
"Getting to show all of the work that we've put in throughout this entire semester. And then, you know, having results come out," she said.
BYU graduate Juan Mendez was Wong’s dance partner. He said starting his master's at BYU has given him the chance to continue improving his dance skills.
"I feel like it's never truly a ballroom dance experience until you don't meet expectations, you meet expectations and you exceed expectations," Mendez said.
Mendez hoped to get farther in some events. However, he and Wong won a samba event.
"We met expectations and exceeded as well," he said.
