BYU Athletics hosted its annual trick-or-treat event at the Marriott Center on Oct. 29, where athletes passed out candy to attendees.

Families, friends and students flooded the Marriott Center awaiting their turn in line to meet the university's athletes.

Inside the Marriott Center’s outer corridor, athletes lined the hallway with booths, took pictures and interacted with families.

Attendees dressed up in costumes of all kinds and shuffled forward inch by inch to meet the student athletes.

Laura Rodriguez, an event attendee, said she and her family were most excited to see the athletes — especially the football players.

“I wanna see the players,” Rodriguez said. “I’ve only seen them on a little screen.”

Event-goers Alesha and Tommy Tautkus brought their kids and said they were relieved the event was held inside.

“We came last year but it was freezing and not very fun,” Alesha Tautkus said. “So, when we saw that it was inside, we were like, ‘Yeah, let's do this.’”

The Tautkus’ kids also shared that they were really enjoying the event. They said the candy was their favorite part of the activity.

However, candy wasn’t the only highlight of the trick-or-treat. Cosmo Cougar made sure to show off his own costume and interact with families.

Athletes from men's football, men's and women's volleyball, tennis, gymnastics and other sports ran booths for the trick-or-treat.

Kjersti Strong, a middle blocker for the BYU Women’s volleyball team, said she and her teammates had a blast passing out candy to kids.

“It’s so fun to interact with the community and give back because everyone’s been so supportive of us and our program,” Strong said.

Strong and her volleyball teammates all came dressed as Minions from the “Despicable Me” movie. Strong also said she enjoyed seeing all the costumes.

“It’s super fun to see the other teams and what they all came dressed as,” Strong said. “I think it's super good just to bring everyone together and let us have a chance to say thank you for everything that they do for us.”

The trick-or-treat lasted until the beginning of the women’s basketball game. For more BYU related events, visit the BYU event calendar here.
