It’s that dreaded time of year — the time of year when normal sleep schedules and sanity take a backseat. The time of year where we experience a roller coaster of emotions and any sort of social life we’ve built during the past semester crumbles to dust. That’s right — it’s finals week.
1. Denial
“The end of the semester isn’t for, like, another month! I have plenty of time to study!” Nope. Finals are next week, and I haven’t even started studying. But it’s okay, because I work best under pressure, right?
2. Stress eating
“The best thing for me to do right now is eat something. I can’t study on an empty stomach.” One pan of brownies and a carton of ice cream later …
3. Procrastination (aka Netflix binge)
“I haven’t done laundry in weeks. I should go do that first. Oh! I should clean my room while I’m at it. Can’t focus in a messy room! Plus I should probably catch up on all my TV shows. Then I’ll have zero distractions.”
4. Panic
“Wait. … Finals are NEXT WEEK! I’m going to fail!”
5. Stress overload
“I can’t do this. I can’t do this. I can’t do this.”
6. The moment of defeat
“I’m giving up. Too. Many. Textbooks.”
7. The moment of truth
“This is it. I’m going into the Testing Center. I can do this. Bring it on, finals.”
8. Pure happiness — it’s over!
“I did it! I did it! IT’S OVER!
9. Exhaustion
“Sleep. Must. Sleep.”
