Tidwell Allphin leads Cougars at Texas Relays

Cierra Tidwell Allphin headlined a weekend of stellar BYU performances taking second overall in the women's high jump with a score of 1.83m/6-0 in Austin, Texas.

Currently number two all time on BYU's all time record board for the outdoor women's high jump, Senior Cierra Tidwell Allphin's strong showing was close to setting a new personal best.

Earlier in the week, Annalise Hart ran in the 400m hurdle preliminaries for only the second week of her career, where she ran the program's seventh fastest time of all-time. Mayci Taylor also found a place in BYU's record books as her performance in the heptathlon was good for 10th best all-time.

The Cougar men's 4x200m relay team won their heat with a time of 1:23.70. The team, consisting of Logan Hubler, Trey Jackson, Josh Taylor and Eli Hazlett held the record for fastest 4x200m ran globally in 2024 for a few moments before Houston's relay team beat their time. The team finished placing fifth in the event overall.

The women's 4x200m team of Lainey Jones, Dolita Shaw, Sami Oblad and Emily Ellis-Dalley finished with a time of 1:34.72, good for fifth place overall as well.

The men's 4x100m relay team finished in eighth place with Dallin Draper, Riley Hunt, Logan Hubler and Abram Schaap running a 39.86. Right after, Dallin Draper participated in the 100m final and finished seventh overall with a time of 10.33.

Rounding out the Cougars weekend in the Lone Star State, the women's 4x400m relay team of Annalise Hart, Oblad, Jones, and Ellis-Dalley crossed the line with a time 3:37.55, good for sixth overall. Hazlett, Jackson, Schaap, and Taylor for the men's 4x400m relay ran a time of 3:07.73 which placed them in seventh overall for the event.

Moving forward into the season for BYU, the Cougars will send their throwers to the Triton Invitational hosted by UC San Diego on April 5-6. All other track & field athletes will enjoy an extended stay in Utah as they prepare for the Weber Spring Open and Utah Spring Classic on April 5th and 6th.
