BYU women's volleyball walked away from Friday night's game with a 3-0 victory over Iowa State to grow its winning streak to five straight.
Whitney Bower found Cougars around the whole court today as she set up 3 10+ kill games for her teammates.
“It’s a tribute to our passing. We pass really well and when you pass well, that allows Bower to distribute the ball” head coach Heather Olmstead said, “they were having a hard time figuring out where she was going to set”.
The Cougars racked up 49 kills Friday night, Livingston with 12, Stowell and McWean-Llarenas with 11, and Lee with 8 kills.
Iowa St. did their best to keep themselves in it, tallying nine blocks on the night, however the firepower of the Cougars was too much to handle.
BYU flipped the momentum as they challenged a play during the second set. The call was reversed which sparked a 6-0 run by the Cougars with an electic ace in the middle of it.
The fans packed out the Smith Field House once again as they screamed and cheered their Cougars on.
“The energy in the gym when you have 4,400 people here cheering for the Cougars just pumps our team up” Olmstead said, “it allows us to have gratitude for what we have and the community”
BYU will take a couple days off and look forward to traveling to Kansas St.
“It’s an opportunity to challenge ourselves against a good team that we don’t know much about that is playing well and it is really fun for our team” Coach Olmstead said. “We are excited to go to a new venue and new city”
The Cougars will face the Wildcats on Thursday Oct. 26, and Friday Oct. 27.
