Number one seed Texas won the event going 4-1-0 in the championship beating three seed Baylor.

The match play event is a different structure than the majority of the tournaments BYU plays through the season. This even grouped Big 12 schools into pools, pool play then determines the matchups.

Each matchup pits five individual golfers from one school against five individuals from the other. Whichever school has more individual wins in that matchup, wins.

There were five total rounds, with winners progressing to the end of the tournament, and those that lost were left to shake out final placing.

BYU played in the morning of day one for round one going to a tie with Kansas State. Round two the Cougars matched up with the Cougars from Houston going for another tie.

Day two started with round three where BYU lost 4-1 to two seed Oklahoma. The Cougars finished off the second day in round four flipping the script and beating the eleven seed Iowa State Cyclones 4-1.

The final day was the championship round where BYU battled 12 seed Kansas for 9th place. Kansas battled the Cougars with a tie of the first matchup, a Jayhawk win in the second, until BYU won the final three straight to secure the nine spot for their first Big 12 Match Play tournament

BYU will take a couple weeks off until Oct. 30 when they travel to Hawaii for the Kapolei invitational.
