Utah gas prices escalate to record high

The average price of regular gasoline in Utah has risen to almost four dollars a gallon for the first time since the Great Recession in 2008.

“I mean, I don’t plan on going anywhere crazy anytime soon, but when I do make trips I’ll just suck it up and eat the price,” Utah county driver Garret May said.

According to AAA, the average national price for gas is $3.85 per gallon, up more than a dollar from a year ago. The average price in Utah County is $3.83 a gallon. An increase in gas demand, combined with a reduction in total supply, is contributing to price increases.
